Moview review: Private Tropical 2 "Sunrise" (2002) (Jane Cruising, Sandra Pay, Jodie Moose, Valentina Belly)

A palatial room introduces us to this new movie of the tropical saga. A work meeting takes place, in which the manager of IEM Immobiliare, Lenka Saunder (the wellknown Jennifer Dior from the nineties), explains the details of the next business trip that her subordinates Susan and Jennifer are going to take. The destination: the paradisiacal island of Saint Loupen. The objective: to convince Bruno Le Fleur to sell his land to the company to build the IMR tourist complex there.

Jennifer Carradia studied Marketing and International Trade at Jesus College, Cambridge, but is of French origin and has a marked idealism and love of nature. She has a very analytical mind and has long been rethinking if her site is on IEM immobiliare, although her boss doesn't suspect a thing. In addition, she did university studies in chemistry first, which she did not finish, and is a highly talented amateur winemaker.

On the other hand, Susan Thompson is an Anglo-Saxon who studied Sales and Public Relations at the Hogeschool in Amsterdam and has risen through the IEM hierarchy. She is ambitious and her professional career is her priority. He will do everything possible to continue moving up the ladder. She plays the flute and is a great lover of cocktails and house music.

The briefing that he delivers contains pre-contracts and conditions for Mr. Le Fleur's legal advisers. This is a real estate operation of vital importance for the IEM immobiliare business conglomerate.

A sumptuous start, surrounded by luxury and art

A simpler logo than the packaging design of a box of paracetamol

Susan asks why the two of them are traveling to the Caribbean, and Lenka tells them that it will be a competition, since the one who gets the final signature will receive a bonus of 50,000 dollars and will direct the IMR complex. Jennifer, less prone to rivalry, looks on the bright side of a trip to a tropical paradise, while Susan already thinks about formalizing the acquisition.

The island of Saint Loupen does not exist, and the aerial images show us that it is the area of Dominicus Bayahibe. (Hotel Catalonia La Romana).

However, the house they arrive at in the Renault Espace III is not actually in the Dominican Republic, but in the urbanization Le Devens, Mougins. Martin has taken them to the villa (supposedly located in Saint Loupen) and although he seems like a simple chauffeur, during the subsequent dinner he appears to have a certain power of decision.

Martin drops off newcomers Susan and Jenny at the villa.

Main door today

In the garden of the Mougins villa, Susan, Jennifer, Martin and Jeremy enjoy an exquisite dinner. After the initial toast they begin to plan the days of inspection of the land of Bruno Le Fleur. Jeremy will go with Susan, and Jenny will have to visit the private beach with George because it brings back many memories of a past romance for Martin. Poor Martin remains lost in thought and here we see that the film is an intimate drama with a Freudian reading, in which dreams have a certain plot weight.

A delicious dinner

Dreams that haunt

Shortly after, the young women need to rest because they carry a long plane trip on their backs. They both seem very happy to meet their colleagues, supposedly from Bruno Le Fleur's team, who are going to guide them through the estate before finalizing the purchase.

Tropical first dates

Horse riding on the beach

The sun and the sea are the main attractions of this magnificent tropical enclave. George explains to Jenny the whole complex and where the buildings, the bars, the freshwater pools, the apartments, the entrance to the hotels, etc. will be located. It all seems pretty planned. Jenny, unfortunately, still suffers from jet lag, so she asks George to continue tomorrow and she decides to sit on the beach to rest, calm and alone.

Dressed with the working overalls

Meanwhile, Susan lets Jeremy know there's something wrong with the whole operation. Here Max Bellocchio has wanted to make clear his frontal opposition to the destruction of natural parks in the Dominican Republic and begins to make a subtle defense of Caribbean ecosystems, which he will delve into later.

Expert inspection

Jenny relaxes by the sea, but a petty thief breaks her peace and steals her camera. Luckily, a charming prince appears who catches the sausage, kicks him and returns the camera to the young commercial. He asks the girl about what she is doing alone on the beach and surreptitiously asks her out on a date.

Pre-theft moment

¡Catch the thief!

You should be more careful...

That same afternoon, back at the villa, Jennifer tells Susan about the run-in with the thief, and about what she thinks of Martin. Both professionals seem more interested in the boys than in buying the farm.

Laughter in the sun

In fact, that same night, Susan goes out with Martin for a drink in a pub on the island. Martin jealously asks her if she has feelings for Jeremy, and also suggests they go somewhere quieter. Martin proposes his house, and they waste no time.

Approach flyby

The next morning, Susan explains to Jenny that they went to the club and then ended up at Martin's house and that you can imagine what happened there. Jenny asks if Susan has met Bruno yet, but she says no. The negotiations take time and no one seems to know very well what these unfocused girls are doing on a business trip across the pond.

In the Caribbean you live very well

The efficient Lenka is not used to delays

Lenka, a little restless and immersed in the salmon-colored pages of the financial newspapers, calls Jennifer to ask her about the progress of the operation. Lenka is a little surprised at the slowness of the subordinates.

Susan has left before the call to visit another area with George. From a yacht, the handsome rigger explains where the duty free shops, the heliport, the convention center for executives and the gourmet restaurants will be built.

The atmosphere heats up

Back at the villa, Martin puts Jenny off again over her run-in with Bruno Le Fleur. Jennifer begins to worry about the abnormality of the event. Nobody could expect that he would have to look for alternative activities to kill boredom, but Bruno Le Fleur is never available.

See if you have an island to have fun... so don't get burdensome

After mooring the boat, Susan decides to take a bath in the presence of George and his girlfriend, in the refreshing Caribbean waters. It is without a doubt the most leisurely business trip ever seen on the big screen.

Pre bath moment

Jennifer has gone to the beach to reflect and by pure chance, she meets her prince charming again, to whom she tells him that it might not be a good idea to go there with the backhoes and turn that corner of the jungle into a filthy beast of concrete and cement.

Reunion on the sand

Taking advantage of the fact that both Susan and Jennifer are out on the island, at the villa, Martin and Jeremy meet up with Ted, to whom they tell the situation. Martin advances that he thinks Susan has little loyalty to the company and that Jennifer is under control by continually postponing the date with Bruno Le Fleur. It seems that something murky is cooking.

The great villain enters the scene

At night in the jacuzzi, oblivious to all the collusion, Susan and Jenny discuss their flirtations in the Caribbean again, and only talk about the impending meeting with Bruno Le Fleur, which has not yet taken place.

Product placement of DOP

The next day, Martin asks Susan to meet Bruno's partner, Ted, as soon as possible because he is a very interesting man and can give the operation a different approach. He tells her that Ted can change her life and offer her a much better job than the one she currently has. Susan listens carefully and watches him with wide eyes.

The conspiracy moves forward

Like Palpatine trying to convince a power-hungry Anakin, Martin persuades Susan that she should go over to the dark side. He talks about Ted, a very interesting person, as if he were Darth Plagueis the wise man.

Without a doubt, we see parallels with this scene in the opera that George Lucas filmed 4 years later

Jenny is staying on the sidelines and keeps looking for chores, procrastinating. She's gone for a walk on the beach with her Prince Charming, prompting Martin to tell Susan about Ted. Actually, it's only a matter of time before Susan ends up getting the bonus because Jennifer is falling under the spell of love.

And love makes its way

Martin introduces Ted and Susan and in this way new negotiations start. Ted connects with her from the first minute given her excessive ambition and begins to prepare the hook to sign her for his parallel company, which he has created behind Bruno's back, in unfair competition.

After much reflection, I have come to the conclusion that at the dawn of the tropical saga, perhaps it was not easy to coordinate the rental of locations for filming in the Caribbean, and perhaps that is why the Private team chose to rent a sumptuous villa in Cannes.

The beaches are calm and remind us of those of Isla Saona, where the large constructions of multinational hotel companies have not yet arrived, partly thanks to films like Sunrise.

Martín offers Susan the position of head of public relations and promises her a good sum of money. Susan agrees right then and there, and goes with Ted to the beach to get to know him a little better

In the tropical heat

Hours later, Ted rides a horse with his girlfriend and tells her that they already have Susan dazzled, behind Bruno Le Fleur's back. Ted's intention is to completely destroy Saona Island and the Cotubanamá National Park and they are going to fill them with cement, casinos and vice to get the most profit possible.

A lot of horse riding and little work

The new plan is directed by Ted

Susan, Ted's pawn, has already fallen into the trap

Ted phones Susan to introduce Angela from Sunrise incorporated. They meet at the port early the next day, to cut the last shreds on Susan's incorporation into the operation. Already on the high seas, Angela tells Susan that she is, in fact, the one who wants to acquire the land and that Ted is the minority that has provided the privileged information. Angela offers to double his salary if he agrees to join her sales team.

The top staff of Sunrise Incorporated outlines its final plan

Unscrupulous, Susan betrays Lenka and Jenny. She lies to the latter, assuring her that she already knows Bruno and that he has sold his farm to Sunrise Incorporated. Being untruthful and lying are part of Susan's instruction manual, and she doesn't seem to have any remorse. Discouraged, Jennifer replies that she has decided to stop trying because she doesn't want to waste any more time. She prefers to take advantage of it with her Prince Charming.

In the BMW 7 series e38 you always travel first class. An epoch-making F-segment saloon driven by Pierce Brosnan in "Tomorrow Never Dies"

The ignorant always celebrate victories before time

Lenka, leaning on her brand new BMW 7 Series, calls Susan, and she informs her that Le Fleur has already sold Isla Saona to Sunrise Incorporated. Lenka warns him that the island will become a wasteland, a concrete desert; but that doesn't matter when money rules. Immediately afterwards, Lenka calls Jenny's mobile and tells her that she is going to catch the first plane to Saint Loupen, but that she must keep the secret.

The first waterproof mobile

More polyphonic tones sound in the villa, and now it is Susan who tells Ted that Lenka is already aware of everything that is happening in Saint Loupen. They decide to stay that same night to celebrate a party of greed in the purest liberal style.

Industrial espionage and privileged information

Executives spend the day glued to their cell phones.

Jenny, meanwhile, gives in to her feelings and goes sailing with her prince charming and savior from the thief. She loves fishing and doesn't want to invest another minute in a real estate operation whose objective is to destroy part of the tropical paradise.

20000 tongues under the sea

And we come to the final scene. Ted and Bruno Le Fleur appear in the company of Martin, Jeremy and Susan in the main hall of the villa. Ted argues that after studying the IEM proposals presented to him by Susan Thompson, he has realized that it is not a suitable offer. Immediately, Ted shows Bruno the offer from Sunrise Incorporated, which is owned by Angela and in which Ted is a minority partner. We are, therefore, faced with an important conflict of interest.

All set for the big hit

With imagination, I have designed a logo for Sunrise INC that is reminiscent of the logo of Spectra, the criminal organization from the James Bond movies, due to its Machiavellianism, its love of money and its marked disregard for the environment.

ambiente.

At that moment, when Bruno already seems convinced that Ted's analyzes have been totally unbiased, Lenka and Jenny appear, who tell Mr. Le Fleur the whole truth.

Bad news come suddenly

The truth always prevail

Bruno expresses his anger and expels all that criminal gang that has been about to swindle him to turn the Cotubanama Park into an amusement park.

IEM immobiliare finally gets the long-awaited rubric

Grateful for the unexpected appearance of the aforementioned, Mr. Le Fleur decides to close the sale with IEM in that same place, and Lenka fires Susan's cunning. Bruno fully trusts Lenka. Jenny, meanwhile, demonstrates her great personal quality and rejects the bonus of 50,000 dollars, disgusted by the whole situation and for having discovered Susan's shark and the greed that reigns in her work sector. He decides to stay and live in paradise, knowing that this means losing his job at IEM Immobiliare. She only thinks of spending most of her time with her prince charming, oblivious to the stress of the IMR complex and the commissions for objectives.

The surprise comes out in the last scene, like a nice epilogue, and it seems that Lenka had already known Bruno for a long time. Lenka has sent her employees for Bruno to sell for the market price and not with some kind of preferential treatment towards it. There are no more people like that in the world of real estate development. The bubble burst in 2008 ended everything.
